Uganda Birding Safari Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Birding in Kampala City.
Our 4 Days Bird Watching Uganda Safari, day 1 is fully dedicated for birding around Kampala city including around Makerere University, The Ugandan Parliament, Bahai Temple and areas around the Shores of Lake Victoria in Munyonyo. Overnight at Cassia Lodge overlooking Lake Victoria (Lodge facility) or JBK hotel (Budget facility) Meal Plan Breakfast, hence making our 4 Days Bird watching Uganda safaris more interesting. Day 2: Birding in Entebbe City
Our 4 Days Bird watching Uganda safari starts with a drive to Entebbe water front club and board a speed boat to Ngamba island chimpanzee sanctuary to experience the chimp feeding as well as birding along Lake Victoria this will enable you experience a great bird watching safari with chimpanzee trekking experience. Return to Entebbe where you will have your lunch with free entrance to Uganda wildlife education centre and here expect to see the Shoebill, the African Fish eagle in captivity, the Giant Kingfisher, Swamp Flycatcher, Broad-billed Roller, Black-and-white Casqued Hornbill, Splendid Starling, Olive-bellied Sunbird, Orange Weaver, Vulturine and African Fish Eagle, Verreaux’s Eagle-owl, Red-chested Sunbird, Ross’s Turaco, Pied Hornbill, Crowned Hornbill, Open-billed Stork, Great Reed Warbler, Grey-caped Warbler, Sedge Warblers, the rare Northern Masked Weaver along with the Golden Backed, Black Necked, Northern Brown Throated, Grosbeak, different races of the Bag lafecht Weavers, a number of flycatcher species such as the Black-and-white Shrike-flycatcher, Lead colored, Pale Flycatcher, Red-bellied Paradise-flycatcher, African-paradise flycatcher, African Blue Fly catcher, then to the Lutembe bay, a variety of bird species to observe are; The elusive Shoe bill, White-faced Whistling-duck, Fulvous Whistling-Duck, Goliath Heron, Purple Heron, Common Squacco Heron, long-toed Plover, African water Rail, Grey and Black Headed Herons, Striated Heron, Pygmy Goose, Yellow Billed Duck, Black Crake, Swamp Moorhen, Allen’s Gallinule, African Jacana. Day 3: A visit to Mabamba Bay
Our 4 days bird watching Uganda safaris starts with an early breakfast then get ready with packed lunch as we drive to Mabamba area one of the best birding haven in Uganda. Various species will be spotted out which include: woodland and garden birds. The House Sparrow that are Vagrant, Mosque Swallow (monteiri race), Weyn’s Weaver, White Shouldered Tit, Little Swift, Sand Martin, Brown Snake-Eagle, Eurasian Hobby, Grosbeak Weaver, Blue-headed Coucal, Fork-tailed Drongo, Feral Pigeon, Flappet and Rofus-napped Lark, Long-Crested Eagle, Stripped Kingfisher, Common Stonechat, Common Greenshank, Little bee-eater, Whinchat, Grey Wagtail, Great Blue Turaco, Grassland Pipit, Orange Weaver, Northern Brown-throated Weaver, Tawny-flanked Prinia, Black-headed weaver, Slender-billed Weaver, Yellow-backed Weaver, Black Headed Gonolek, Ruppell’s Long-tailed Sterling, Grey-Headed Sparrow, Spur-winged Lapwing, Yellow Wagtail, African Pied Wagtail, Pied King Fisher, Grey-headed Kingfisher, Yellow Billed Stork, Olivaceous Warbler, Tawny Eagle, Carruther’s Cisticola, Ross’s Turaco, Fan-tailed Widow bird, Ashy Flycatcher, Rufous-napped Lark, Yellow-throated Greenbul, Common Squacco Heron, White-faced Whistling-duck, Fulvous Whistling-duck, Goliath Heron and other bird species are a must see for a hard core or lucky birder, hence marking an interesting 4 days bird watching Uganda safaris. Day 4: Drive to Entebbe Botanical gardens and Zikka forest
Our 4 Days bird watching Uganda safari starts with an early morning breakfast then visit the botanical gardens which have a collection of species of plants of the tropical, sub-tropical and temperate zones, besides several shrubs and other plants that regenerated naturally over the years. The habitat has attracted a diverse array of birds up to 206 species both forest and shore birds. Monkeys like the Black and White Columbus and Vervet Monkeys have recently evaded the gardens too so you stand a chance of taking a look at them. The most common bird species are Marsh Sandpipers, Common Green Shank, Long-tailed and Great Cormorants, Madagascar Bee-eater, Green Crombec, Orange weaver, Golden and Yellow backed weavers, Superb sunbird, Bare faced go-away-bird, Ross’s and Great blue Turacos, Grey and Brown Parrots, Palm Swift, Little Swift, Entebbe Weaver an endemic to Uganda that was recorded at the site only once, White spotted Flu tail among others. Return to hotel for lunch and after visit the zikka forest to spot birds, animals and butterflies in the unique canopies and much amazing experience will be gained at this forest as we wait for our evening flight back home.
