Ethiopia Grand Historic Safari Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport
Senait Ethiopia Tours' representative will greet you at exit of luggage claim outside of the main exit hall in the car parking area and transfer you to the hotel. You will have city tour and sightseeing tour of Addis Ababa, including Mount Entoto for the panoramic view of the city and old palace of Menelik, the national museum, and Trinity cathedral. Overnight stay will be at Hilton Hotel.
Day 2: Fly to Bahir Dar and visit Lake Tana Island Monasteries and Blue Nile Falls
Early morning, a short flight will take you to Bahir Dar. Upon arrival, you will meet the tour guides, drive to the hotel where you will be accommodated, and rest for few minutes. Your first visit will be to Lake Tana on a boat ride, where you will visit the medieval period island monasteries (beautiful mural paintings, religious and sacred books) on Lake Tana, such as: Kibran Gabriel (only for men), Entos, and on the Zegien peninsula, you will visit Ura Kidan Mehiret, Azuwa Mariam, and Mahal Giorgis. After lunch, you will drive (approximately 30 kilometers) and visit the Blue Nile Falls. In the evening, you will have dinner and stay the night at the hotel. Overnight stay will be at Kuriftu Resort and Spa, Bahir Dar.
Day 3: Drive to Gondar and visit the Fassiladas Castles
You will be driven to Gondar (185 kilometers) right after breakfast. Then you will check into a hotel and after a brief break, you will have lunch. Then, you will visit to the Royal Castles and the Bath of Emperor Fasiledes (the bath is filled with water for the important Timkat (epiphany) ceremony once a year. You will continue your visit to Debre Birhan Selassie Church (Trinity at the Mount of Light), the Castle of Empress Mintewab, and Kuskwam Complex, which is a royal compound built by the Empress Mentewab. Early in the evening, you will visit ‘AzmariBet’ at Traditional Music Houses after which you will have dinner at the hotel and stay there for the night. Overnight stay will be at Goha Hotel.
Day 4: Excursion to Simien Mountain
You will have a morning drive to Simien Mountain to visit the marvelous scenery of the mountain, the endemic animals of Walya Ibex, Chilada Baboon, and birds. Five kilometers from Gonder you will see the old village of black Jewish. The full day you will be in the Semien Mountain around Sankaber Campsite. Sankaber lies within the Simien Mountains National Park and found at an altitude of Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD). It is the place to see troops of gelada baboon on the way. They are very attractive and you may take picture of them. These are different primates found only in Ethiopia and live on vegetables and soft roots. Walk to the wonderful view points around Sankaber. Walk to Jimbar Waterfalls and then drive back to Gondar to be accommodated in Goha Hotel.
Day 5: Flight to Lalibela
After breakfast, another short flight will take you to Lalibela. Upon arrival, you will meet the tour guides, drive to the hotel where you will rest for a few minutes. Your first visit will be to the eleven Rock-hewn Monolithic (carved from a single rock) Churches of Lalibela (UNESCO world heritage site, with magnificent architecture and paintings inside the churches). In the evening you will get back to the hotel, rest, have dinner, and relax. Overnight stay will be at Sora Lodge Lalibela.
Day 6: Flight back to Addis Ababa and depart back home
After a relaxed breakfast, a short flight will bring you back to Addis Ababa for optional city tour, shopping, have a farewell dinner, and transfer to airport for the flight back home.
