Rwanda, the Land of a Thousand Hills Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali
Activities of the day: Arrival and transfer to the hotel for the overnight. Upon arriving at the airport you will be warmly welcomed by your guide from oikos safaris who will then give you a short briefing and transfer you to your hotel in Kigali town.
Day 2: Transfer to musanze
City tour Kigali – Ruhengere Activities of the day: Half day city tour of Kigali town, lunch and transfer to Ruhengere. Today you will explore Kigali, by visiting the Genocide Museum and the Caplaki Crafts Center for about 3-4 hours. After lunch, you will depart for Ruhengeri. The two-hour drive through the rolling hills of Rwanda takes you to the base of the magnificent volcanoes of the Virunga mountain range. Arrive to your lodge in the evening. We also offer optional additional trips to the memorial sites of Murambi, Nyamata, Ntarama, Bisesero, Nyanza and Nyarabuye for those that wish to learn more about Rwanda’s Genocide.
Day 3: Volcaneo national park
Today you set off for gorilla trekking in Parc des Volcans. Ascending the slopes of the Virungas, you will be immersed in the dense, lush rainforest. The vibrant birdcalls and squabbles of the golden monkeys will eventually bring you to the gorillas in their natural habitat. Starring into the eyes of these gentle giants is a truly once in a lifetime experience. Returning in the afternoon you can go for the optional Ibyiwatu Cultural group performance, where you will be entertained, and learn more about Rwandan culture, music, dance, and drama. Or take a visit to the twin lakes before returning to the lodge in the evening.
Day 4: Volcanoe
Today you set off for golden monkey tracking in Parc des Volcans. Ascending the slopes of the Virungas, you will be immersed in the dense, lush rainforest. The vibrant birdcalls and squabbles of the golden monkeys will eventually bring you to the golden monkeys in their natural habitat. Starring into the eyes of these monkeys jumping the potatoes and on the bamboo.
Day 5: Volcanoe national park
Trekking to the Dian fossey Tomb is one of the most sought after safari activities carried out while visiting Volcanoes, national park for a gorilla trip. The trek involves a 30 minutes drive from the park headquarters to the trail head to access the Karisoke research camp where visitors walk for 10 minutes to the park boundary. The walk from the park boundary to the research center where the Dian’s grave is, takes about an hour to 1 hour and a half hours and affords good views of forest hogs, forest elephants, a variety of primates and bird species.
Day 6: Lake kivu
Gisenyi is a town on the north shore of Lake Kivu, in northwestern Rwanda’s Rubavu district. Beach resorts line the lake’s sandy waterfront, and kayaks ply its clear waters. From Gisenyi, the long-distance, lakeside Congo Nile Trail winds through hilly terrain, passing villages, waterfalls and tea and coffee plantations. East of town, Gishwati-Mukura National Park’s rainforests are home to chimpanzees and monkeys
Day 7: Nyungwe forest national park
You will wake up very early in the morning go for nyungwe headquarter and the go for the chimpanzee tracking The popular things you must see and do in Nyungwe forest national park include among others:
Chimpanzee trekking. Forest walks and hiking trails. Canopy walk. Bird watching.
Monkey trekking.
visiting the tea plantation.
Day 8: Transfer to Kigali
On this day after your breakfast you be transfered to kigali for flyout back home
